Lotus leaf may call to mind the beautiful water lily that lives in the waters of Asia…opening its petals to greet each new day. The lotus flower has decorated pottery, paintings and religious artifacts across the world, and has been making an appearance in the written word for millennia.
Its cousin, the Nelumbo Nucifera, or Sacred Lotus, also known as Chinese arrowroot and Egyptian bean, is an entirely edible plant – from the petals to the seeds.
Ancient cultures in Asia and the Middle East have been consuming the whole plant for more than 5,000 years, and without any adverse side effects
Active Ingredient:
Nuciferine is an alkaloid found within the plants Nymphaea caerulea and Nelumbo nucifera, also is the main lipid-lowering active ingredients in the lotus leaf. It’s extracted from dry grinding lotus leaf by a series of methods such as adopting the cellulase pretreatment, dilute hydrochloric acid extraction, ultrasonic assisted extraction and chloroform extraction.
